A biking and walking trail through the heart of Lodi.
A rail-to-trail project transforms an unused rail corridor into a vibrant public place. When converted into green space, Lodi’s Union Pacific spur line will become a valuable community facility connecting school, parks, and the downtowns of Lodi and Woodbridge. This space is a natural fit for bicycle and pedestrian travel, having gradual grades and marked crossings. Through a process known as railbanking, the railroad can retain ownership of the corridor in perpetuity while permitting use of the right-of-way as a bicycling and walking trail.
